Beloved Hawthorne Restaurant Gordo's Closes After 40 Years In Business

A beloved restaurant has closed its doors after nearly 40 years in business.

Owners Michael and Lisa Schliman of Gordo's in Hawthorne held a farewell party over the weekend that brought hundreds to the Commerce Street eatery -- one last time.

"So sad to know that Gordo's is closing," John Torpey said on Facebook. "Diane practically raised our two sons there... Our biggest regret is that our next generation, our Grand Daughter Kayla, will never know the power of Gordo's."

"A neighborhood institution will be very much missed," Sally Love said.

"Incredible you are closing," Yvonne Last said. "We will miss you across from our home. Especially on snowy nights.

"You were literally where Emile and I ate for six weeks when we first moved here as we renovated our home."
